When an Austin-based healthcare provider reached out, she had a clear vision:
She wanted professional headshots that looked warm, natural, and outdoorsy — something that felt like her, not just another beige office wall.
But let’s be real:
Texas weather doesn’t always play nice with photoshoots.
She wanted the look of an outdoor shoot… without the chaos of actually being outside.
So we built a custom solution — one that gave her and her team the comfort of an indoor session with the visual impact of a lifestyle portrait.

We began with a discovery call to discuss her goals, brand aesthetic, and how the final headshots would be used across platforms. She shared previous headshots and walked me through what she liked — and what she wanted to improve. I responded by sharing tailored examples of my work and explaining how a background replacement process could deliver the elevated, natural look she envisioned.
She was excited by the creative possibilities and confident in the direction we mapped out together.
After our call, I sent over a detailed proposal outlining the scope, process, and deliverables. She reviewed it, signed the agreement, and submitted the retainer — and we were officially underway.
Next, I scheduled a visit to her office to scout and capture the perfect environmental scene for her headshot background. We walked the location together, discussing angles and lighting as I photographed several potential backdrops. She reviewed the images in real time and selected her favorite — a soft, tree-lined setting that felt warm, clean, and inviting.

Now that the client has chosen and approved their ideal background, I moved into the next phase: creating a professional mockup to show her how the final image could come together.
Once the background concept was approved, we scheduled a date for me to return and photograph her team.
I arrived about an hour early to set up my fully portable, high-end professional studio — the same setup I use for executive and corporate sessions. (You can view the full gear list [here].)
After testing and dialing in the lighting to ensure perfect exposure and my signature polished look, we began the sessions. Each team member received a fully guided, relaxed experience designed to bring out their most natural and confident expressions.
Throughout each session, we reviewed the images together in real time — adjusting pose, posture, and expression based on their feedback. Each person gave their personal stamp of approval before their image was approved for professional retouching.
Once all sessions were complete, I invited the client back to review her team’s selections as a whole. She gave her final sign-off on every chosen image, and with her approval, the headshots were officially sent off for retouching and seamless background integration.
Note: If the client had requested any changes or felt a reshoot was needed, this is where we would have brought that team member back in for a second session — ensuring 100% satisfaction before leaving the property.

Once the client gave her final approval on the selections, I began the post-production phase — where everything truly comes to life.
Every selected image goes through my signature retouching workflow to ensure each person looks like the best version of themselves — without ever looking overdone or unnatural.
Here’s what that includes:
It’s all about enhancing what’s already there — not altering identities, but elevating presence.
Once retouching is complete, I move into the compositing stage — where each team member is carefully integrated into the approved outdoor-style background we captured earlier.
This is not drag-and-drop editing or asking Ai to do the work for you.
It’s a meticulous, high-end compositing process built to create a natural, seamless result that looks like it was photographed on location.
Here’s what’s involved:
Whether the goal is to reflect a real location, match a company’s aesthetic, or build a unified look for remote teams, this compositing process helps create credibility, polish, and brand alignment — especially when teams are photographed at different times.

After all retouching and compositing were complete, I uploaded the final images to a secure online gallery for the client to review and download.
My typical turnaround time is 2–3 business days, but in many cases, images are delivered even faster — without compromising quality.
When she opened the gallery, her response said it all:
“I think they came out great!”
She was especially impressed by how seamless the final headshots looked — each person naturally placed in a real outdoor scene that we had photographed on location.
What could have been a sweaty, high-stress outdoor session under the Texas sun turned into a comfortable, curated experience in the A/C — with none of the chaos and all of the polish.
She called it “pretty cool” that I was able to build a scene from scratch and deliver results that felt real, intentional, and elevated — exactly what she had envisioned for her team.
And the best part? That custom background we created is now saved and ready to use for future hires.
That means no one ever has to step outside for consistency again — no sweating, no weather delays, no mismatched lighting. Just clean, branded headshots that match the rest of the team, every time.
It’s a win–win for the client and her employees — and a powerful example of how thoughtful planning can lead to effortless, long-term results.

Helping this Austin healthcare clinic elevate their brand wasn’t just about producing nicer headshots — it was about solving a problem with intention, building a visual foundation they can grow on, and delivering an experience that matched the professionalism they offer their own clients.
From the very first discovery call to the final delivery, every step of the process was clear, collaborative, and efficient. The team didn’t have to navigate the heat, stress, or awkward logistics of an outdoor shoot — instead, they received a comfortable, guided session indoors with stunning results that look like they were captured in perfect natural light.
